December-🎅✨ Jupiter is bright, Geminids fly, Pleiades twinkle in the sky!
Jupiters Opposition
Jupiter shines so bright, in Taurus it will glow,
Paired with Aldebaran’s light, a coppery show!
At mag of minus two, it’s brighter than the rest,
Grab your scopes and point them high—this view’s the best!
Oh, Jupiter, Jupiter, opposition’s here!
The largest planet this special time of year.
Oh, Jupiter, Jupiter, shining oh so clear,
Its bands, its moons, its Red Spot let's cheer!
Through telescopes we’ll see, its clouds and moons in tow,
The shadows dance so gracefully, a cosmic glow!
At forty-eight arcseconds, it fills the eyepiece wide,
So let’s all gaze on Jupiter magnified!
Pleiades- M45
Oh, Pleiades, you grace the sky,
A sparkling sight from far and nigh.
From suburban streets to countryside,
Your glowing stars are magnified.
With seven sisters shining bright,
You dazzle on a winter’s night.
Through binoculars, your wonders beam,
A celestial gift, a stargazer’s dream.
When telescopes come into play,
Your beauty takes our breath away.
A low-powered view fits you just right,
Capturing the cluster in its light.
Your cosmic glow, so soft, so near,
Fills the season with joy and cheer.
Oh, Pleiades, your stars delight,
A holiday treasure in the night!
Geminid Meteor Shower
The Geminids arrive with stars in flight,
But this year’s shower may not be right.
The Moon grows full just days ahead,
Making the meteors harder to be seen instead.
Still, don’t despair, there’s still a chance,
Before dawn breaks, you might see them dance.
Three to four hours before the light of day,
When the Moon is low and fading away.
Though 2024’s skies may be bright,
The Geminids still offer a sparkling sight.
Get up early, and you just might,
Find meteors that cross your sight.
